Topics include file and directory management, controlling the user work environment, Installing the Solaris 10 OS and User management. In addition, this course explains fundamental command-line features of the Solaris OS, including file system navigation, the vi text editor, file permissions, command shells, basic network use, and reading shell scripts. This course provides Technical Evaluators and System Administrators with the skills they need to install and begin using the Solaris 10 Operating System. This course does not support the Sun Certified Solaris Associate exam.

SA-100-S10 - Solaris 10 Operating System Essentials

The Solaris 10 Operating System Essentials course provides instruction in the key features and capabilities of Suns flagship Solaris 10 OS. Topics include file and directory management, controlling the user work environment, archiving files and using remote commands. In addition, this course explains fundamental command-line features of the Solaris OS, including file system navigation, the vi text editor, file permissions, access control lists (ACLs), command shells, file compression, basic network use, and reading shell scripts. This course prepares students to take the Sun Certified Solaris Associate (SCSAS) Exam.

SA-200-S10 - System Administration for the Solaris 10 Operating System Part 1

The System Administration for the Solaris 10 Operating System, Part 1 course gets you further engaged with the most efficient, secure, and reliable operating system ever built. This course gives you direct experience with the most essential system administration tasks in the Solaris 10 OS. Students will be instructed in essential system administration skills including: configuring network interfaces, managing swap configurations, crash dumps, and core files. SA-2290-S10 - Solaris 10 ZFS Administration

SA-400 - Solaris System Performance Management

The Solaris System Performance Management course introduces students to performance tuning principles, monitoring utilities and tuning tools for the Solaris Operating System (Solaris OS). The presentation includes a review of Solaris subsystems and the utilities provided to monitor system efficiency including sar, vmstat, iostat, netstat, mpstat, nfsstat. This revision also presents tools new to Solaris 10, including DTrace, alongside these well known utilities. The course format isolates each major system component that affects system performance data. Case studies are used to illustrate how performance bottlenecks can be isolated, confirmed through analysis, and resolved through making adjustments to the system configuration. The Central Processing Units (CPUs), memory, and input/output (I/O) systems are reviewed to clarify standard techniques for monitoring each one. Monitoring and tuning virtual memory operations, ZFS and UFS file systems, and network efficiency are discussed as well. The course concludes with a more general examination of the full cycle of identifying and resolving performance impediments. The Solaris System Performance Management course includes lab exercises to reinforce skills development.

SA-345-S10 - Sun Virtualization: Solaris 10 Logical Domains Administration

Sun Microsystems Logical Domains (LDoms) technology is part of a suite of methodologies for consolidation and resource management that includes Sun Fire Dynamic System Domains and Solaris OS Containers. This technology allows you to allocate a systems various resources, such as memory, CPUs, and devices, into logical groupings and create multiple, discrete systems. Each of these systems will have its own operating system, resources, and identity. The emphasis of this course is on providing practical LDom planning, configuration, and administration experience, while also covering the underlying technologies and best practices. This course features the Solaris 10 OS, and LDom management software. The students perform the course lab exercises using LDoms supported servers.

The Solaris 10 Containers Administration course offers a practical, guided experience working with Solaris Containers, the Sun virtualization feature comprised of Solaris Zones and Solaris Resource Controls.
